Workflow: Prompt Repository
Use the prompt repository to store, review, and version prompt assets across teams.
When to use it
- You want one approved prompt version shared by multiple teams.
- You need a history of changes and rollback options.
- You need to manage all three prompt classes in one workspace:
PROMPT,MCP_TOOL, andSKILL.
Steps (simple)
- Open Studio > Repository.
- Choose a tab: My Prompts, Skills, MCP Tools, or Template Library.
- Filter by category and search by name/description.
- Open an item and edit prompt content or tool/skill metadata.
- Save to create a new version.
- Run a quick test.
- Publish when ready.
Prompt Classes
| Class | Description | Typical Metadata |
|---|---|---|
PROMPT | Human-interactive prompt templates | Variables, category, version |
MCP_TOOL | Agent-callable tools | MCP tool name, description, JSON schema |
SKILL | Reusable specialized capabilities | Skill category, trigger pattern, output format |
Tips
- Use clear prompt names.
- Keep prompt changes small and reviewable.
- Test before publishing.
- Use Skills for reusable agent abilities, and MCP Tools for explicit callable tool contracts.
