Prompt Chaining (Simple Guide)
Prompt chaining lets you reuse prompts inside other prompts. This is useful when you want multi-step workflows like extract -> summarize -> write.
How it works (simple)
- You save each step as its own prompt.
- You insert a reference to that prompt in another prompt.
- Veriprompt resolves those references when you run it.
Quick example
Write a main prompt like this:
Create a short brief using this data:
[project-summary]When saved, Veriprompt turns it into a reference behind the scenes and resolves it during execution.
Access rules
- You can only reference prompts you have access to.
- Project prompts can reference project prompts.
- Company prompts can be shared more widely.
Best practices
- Keep each prompt focused on one step.
- Use short names so references are easy to read.
- Test chains before using them in production.
