Session Management
Veriprompt limits each user account to 2 concurrent login sessions. This prevents account sharing and improves security by ensuring you always know which devices are signed in.
How it works
- Every time you sign in, a session record is created on the server.
- If you already have 2 active sessions and try to sign in from a third device, the login is blocked.
- Sessions expire automatically after 24 hours of inactivity or when you sign out.
What you see when the limit is reached
If you attempt to sign in and both session slots are in use, the sign-in page displays an amber warning card:
Session Limit Reached
You already have 2 active sessions. Please sign out from one before logging in again.
The card also shows a table of your active sessions:
| Device | IP Address | Active Since |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome on macOS | 192.168.1.*** | Feb 8, 14:30 |
| Firefox on Windows | 85.214.32.*** | Feb 7, 09:15 |
IP addresses are partially masked for privacy.
How to free a session slot
- Sign out from another device. Open that browser and click Sign Out in the sidebar.
- Wait for expiry. If you cannot access the other device (e.g. you closed the browser), the session will expire automatically after 24 hours.
- Reset your password. A password reset revokes all active sessions immediately, freeing both slots.
Admins and super admins
Super admin accounts are exempt from the session limit. They can sign in from any number of devices simultaneously.
Password reset
When you reset your password, all active sessions on every device are revoked. You will need to sign in again everywhere.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "Session Limit Reached" but I only have one device | Your previous session may not have been closed properly. Wait up to 24 hours for it to expire, or reset your password. |
| Signed out but still seeing the limit error | Clear your browser cookies and try again. The sign-out may not have completed. |
| Need more than 2 sessions | Contact your admin. The limit is a platform-wide setting. |
